John Beard has joined the Washington D.C. office of Rader, Fishman & Grauer PLLC, as a partner. Beard, who was a partner leading the Global Brand Management practice at Faegre& Benson in Minneapolis, will be relocating to Washington DC to enhance Rader, Fishman & Grauer’s significant trademark practice.
Beard brings over 30 years of experience in trademark law and related licensing and litigation, and in many other disciplines of Intellectual Property law. He has been responsible for several large naming projects, including clearance and registration of new company names for several prominent corporations. Beard is enthusiastic about his move. Rader, Fishman & Grauer’s trademark group currently manages about 30,000 US and foreign trademark files, with a customized docket system and 24/7 web access for clients.
Beard was previously a senior vice president and a former chair of the trademark practice at Merchant & Gould. Prior to moving to Minneapolis he was as an intellectual property partner at the firm of Michael, Best & Friedrich and was a shareholder and group head of the IP practice at Godfrey & Kahn in Milwaukee.
Beard holds a BSEE and JD degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is a member of the International Trademark Association, the Licensing Executive Society, the American Intellectual Property Association, and the American Bar Association, and is admitted to the Minnesota and Wisconsin Bars and the USPTO.
